Crime Alert: Fresh FM, Others Suspended By NBC From Running Money-Making Adverts

The National Broadcasting Corporation, NBC has announced that all radio stations using their platforms to aide money-making adverts in Ibadan should suspend such forthwith following the recent arrest of the founder of Crime Alert for allegedly defrauding people of about N128 million.

ODUDUWA NEWS had earlier reported how founder of Crime Alert, Amos was arrested by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Ibadan Chapter on the allegation that he had duped many residents of Ibadan having been misled by radio advert on how to make their money work for them. The advert was given wide coverage which made many people to fall for the scam.

In a letter from NBC to the chief executive officer of all radio stations in Ibadan got by ODUDUWA NEWS, it described the recent occurrence as worrisome and concerning.

Herdsmen and bandits have concluded plans to invade Yorubaland – Amotekun

Oyo State Chairman of Amotekun Security Corps, Gen. Kunle Togun (rtd), says Fulani herdsmen and bandits have concluded plans to invade Yorubaland.

“They were told that Allah has given Nigeria to them as heritage. So, their plans are to take over what they claimed Allah had given them, including Yorubaland.

“There would soon be a problem in the South-West. These foreign Fulani herdsmen would soon come for the purpose of taking over Nigeria. This is because they (Fulani) have the backing of some people in government.

“They have their foot-soldiers among those Okada riders, pepper sellers who ply their trade in wheelbarrows. They have mastered topography in the South-West communities. This is very critical.”

Togun made this revelation on Wednesday 2 June 2021 while delivering the lecture titled “Insecurity: Challenge, Holistic Approach and the Significance of Regional Security Dimensions” at the University of Ibadan.

One Dead As Protest Rocks Oyo Community

Two residents of Ajaawa in the Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State were reportedly killed on Wednesday.

Pressmen gathered that some herdsmen killed a butcher, popularly known as Lamidi Eleran, in the town.

The butcher was said to have seen some herdsmen while they were trying to kidnap a prominent traditionalist in the town.

The kidnap attempt, it was gathered, failed but the herdsmen later lured the butcher to the bush to buy cows. He was reportedly killed by the herdsmen there.

The killing was said to have led to a protest and the protesters were said to have waited in front of the house of one of the contestants for the stool of Alajaawa.

The contestant reportedly opened fire on the protesters, but nobody died.

The shooting was said to have angered protesters and they vandalised his building and set it ablaze while the contestant youth managed to escape.

His hotel was also said to have been razed down by the youths to register their anger.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State Mr Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached.

He did not pick calls put across to him and had yet to reply to the text messages sent to him on the matter as at the time of filing this report.

JUST IN: Gunmen Hijack School Bus In Ondo

Some gunmen on Thursday morning hijacked a school bus in Oba ile Estate of Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo state.

ODUDUWA NEWS has learnt that the gunmen abducted one person who was on duty to convey children to school.

The incident occurred around 6:45am while the driver and the attendant were moving round to pick the Pupils of Chimola School, situated inside the Estate.

A source in the school explained that the gunmen numbering about eight who were on motorcycles, rounded the vehicle, forcing the driver to stop.

He said the eight men who were armed with guns, cutlass and some other weapons, dragged the drivers down from the vehicle and threatened to kill him.

He said the bus with registration number Lagos LSD 853 FJ with Chimola Schools inscribed on it was driven away by one of the hijackers while others moved away from the scene on motorcycles.

He said “the driver and the attendant were about to pick the first student when the incident happened. The gunmen rounded the vehicle and came down with dangerous weapons

“The driver was dragged down from the bus while one of them take the driver’s seat and drove off with the attendant in the bus.

“The whereabouts of the attendant is still unknown but we have reported the incident at the Oba ile Police station.

“This is the first time we are experiencing this kind of situation here. It is quite unfortunate.”

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) could not confirm the incident, saying he has not been briefed, but promised to confirm from the Divisional Police Officer in the area.

Olorunsogo Council Chairperson, Momopewa Commends Makinde Over LAUTECH Fee Reduction

The Executive Chairperson Olorunsogo Local Government, Hon. Julianah Oluwakemi Akanni-Ika has lauded the reduction in tuition fees of Ladokite Akintola University of Technology (Lautech) Ogbmosho by the Pace setter Governor, HE. Engr. Abiodun Oluseyi Mankinde.

The Chairperson said, “In particular, I would like to commend the Governor for this wonderful step, as it will bring relief and succumb to Parent and Student of the institution.

Commending the governor for the wonderful move, the Chairperson described the singular act as another ingenious masterstroke by the Makinde administration.

Pandemonium: One Dead as Hoodlums Clash in Isolo, Lagos

ODUDUWA NEWS has just gathered that residents and traders at Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), on Monday night, were reported to have scampered to safety yesterday as hoodlums clashed together, leaving on dead while severals were injured.

It was gathered that the crisis was an offshoot of last weekend’s All Progressives Congress (APC) local council primaries in the area.

Shops were seen still under lock while some schools were closed down since yesterday. A school administrator in one of the affected schools said hoodlums had made the environment tense for students in the area.

“We have been living in fear since Saturday. Hoodlums fight every day and we cannot even run the school smoothly. We all live in fear here, even the students are not safe to be in school for a long time because anything can happen.”

While giving account of what happened, a trader in the area, who gave her name simply as Sikirat, said that about 8.00p.m. a man in his 20s was killed by hoodlums who attacked a rival group.

She said the victim was asked not to go out but sneaked out of the house before a stray bullet hit him.

“I really do not know what started the fight, but what I know is that the moment the fight broke out, everyone scampered to safety while the deceased was asked to stay indoors. We did not really know how he got out and died. Until his death, he was a decent gentle boy.”

Another trader, identified as Emeka, stated that business in the area had become unsafe for two days now due to nefarious activities of hoodlums who robbed individuals of private belongings.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, yesterday, said it saved residents of Imota area of the state from witnessing what would have been a major disaster as it confined the fire that gutted Malo Petrol Station, Imota, to the premises of the station.

Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, explained that the agency received a distress call that the station, on the Ikorodu-Epe Expressway, Imota LCDA, Ikorodu, was in flames and immediately two fire stations were mobilised to douse the raging fire.

On arrival at the scene, according to her, it was discovered that a petroleum tanker servicing the petrol station caught fire, which subsequently extended to the whole station.

The director further stated that the fire was caused by an electrical fault which developed while the tanker, laden with 45,000 litres of fuel, was discharging its content into an underground tank before the fire started.

Adeseye explained that efforts of the Federal Fire Service and Nigerian Police Force helped in putting out the fire.

Amotekun Arrests Human Parts Dealer In Ibadan

Operatives of the Oyo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun have arrested a suspected human parts merchant, Mutiu Abdul-Rasheed.

Abdul-Rasheed, 40, was reportedly caught and paraded with fresh human hands and other body parts, which were paraded as exhibits.

Abdul-Rasheed reportedly said he belonged to a syndicate that sources fresh human parts for some people.

He said they exhume bodies of known people.

Commandant of Amotekun Corps in the state, Col Olayinka Olayanju (retd) told journalists that the suspect was investigated for some months before he was apprehended.

He said some unnamed individuals have been “mounting pressure on him to release the suspect.”

Abdul-Rasheed said, “We only exhume bodies that are known to us because we must know the dead person when he or she was alive.

“We must also know his or her name as well as the mother’s name.

“Knowing the mother’s name of the dead person that we want to sell the body parts attracts extra cost from those that buy the human parts from us.”

Items recovered from the suspect included guns, charms, decaying body parts, motorcycles and a car. Col Olayanju assured residents that the suspect would be handed over to the police for further investigation.

ODUDUWA NEWS has just gathered that the team of Lagos Rapid Response Squad has Foiled an attempt to loot a truck conveying about 300 crates of trophy and its contents that got damaged along Otedola bridge of Lagos-Ibadan expressway inward Ibadan today.

The Area boys bombarded the truck with the mission to steal the drinks and rob the driver. The driver however managed to escape with the truck and for his dear life from the hoodlums.

However, the RRS team on patrol moved swiftly to the scene and chased away the hoodlums and recovered all the products.

The RRS has, therefore, urged the International Brewery official to come forward to the RRS headquarters in Alausa for recovery of their products.

91 Motorcycles Impounded By Lagos Taskforce Officials

ODUDUWA NEWS has gathered that no fewer than 91 motorcycles plying prohibited routes in the metropolis were yesterday impounded by Lagos State Taskforce officials.

It was learnt that the motorcycles were confirmed to have been impounded after a continuing raid of some roads by the Taskforce officials.

The operation was extended to Oba Ogunji Road, Ogba, Fagba, 7 & 8 Road, Airport Road and Allen Avenue.
