Lekki Toll-Gate Protest: Police Vows To Restrict Break Down Of Law In Lagos

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc has assured Lagosians that the Command has put necessary measures in place to ensure the safety of lives and property, free flow of traffic and a peaceful environment for carrying out their respective lawful duties.

This assurance has become imperative following news making the rounds that some Nigerians are planning to protest at the Lekki Toll-gate, an action capable of grounding commercial activities and obstructing free flow of traffic.

While the Command is not averse to the peoples’ right to freedom of assembly and association; and expression, the Command will equally live up to its mandate of ensuring that no person or group of persons is allowed to infringe on the fundamental human rights of others, especially the rights to freedom of movement and right to dignity of human persons.

CP Alabi therefore warns all intending protesters that anyone found infringing on the rights of other Nigerians will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, CP Alabi once again enjoins all peace loving Lagosians to go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment or intimidation, reiterating that adequate security assets have been strategically deployed to ensure their safety and security.

Woman Traps Robber With Private Part During Operation, Hands Him Over To Police

A woman, Oluchi Ukonu, has skillfully used her private part to trap one of the robbers, Chika Ebelugwu, whose gang invaded their home at night during an operation in Lagos State.

The incident happened at Akeem Lawal Street, off Imude Road, Shibiri area of Lagos, where the robbers invaded.

The Police alleged that the robbers broke into the house with arms and started carting away properties found in the house including laptop, phone and other valuables belongings to Emeka Ukonu.

When they entered the room where Oluchi was staying, one of the robbers took her phone while the suspect, Ebelugwu, was busy sexually touching her private parts. And out of fear, she made it comfortable for him and he did not know when the other robbers left and he was caught in the process.

He was then handed over to the Police at Ilembe Hausa Division for Interrogation where he confessed to have been trapped by the victim’s private parts and did not know when his other gang members left during the operation.

The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ojo Magistrates Court for conspiracy, stealing and attempted rape.

When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ekpo Edet, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T. A. Popoola, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre, Kirikiri town, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 23rd April, 2022, for mention.

Lekki Toll Gate: No To Tolling – Lekki Estate Residents And Stakeholders Association

Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA) has announced that the decision of all residents living around 1004 to Epe, has decided against the reopening of the Lekki Toll Gate.

This was disclosed by the Nigerian comedian and human rights activist, Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, in a tweet via his official Twitter account.

The skit maker wrote, “We are live at the LCC and StakeHolders Meeting.

“The Lekki Estate Residents and Stakeholders Association Chairman has announced the decision of all Residents which is NO TO TOLLING!”

Recall that the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, earlier revealed plans by the Lagos State Government to open the Lekki Toll Gate which was closed for over 18 months since the shooting incident at Lekki Toll Gate by soldiers during the EndSARS protest

The Commissioner disclosed the Toll Gate is set to be opened in April 1, 2022.

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has reacted to the death of Dr Chinelo, a victim of the railway attack on Monday 28th March 2022.

Chinelo, after she was shot, took to the microblogging platform Twitter to solicit prayer, but she got trolled for using the incident to chase clout.

Reacting to the sad incident, Toyin Abraham, in a lengthy post on her Instagram page, opined that Nigeria-kind of life could happen to anyone.

Toyin Abraham said the death of Chinelo should serve as a lesson to clout chasers who desire to score points, accolades and likes on social media at the detriment of others who they should take seriously.

According to Toyin Abraham, the country is currently in a mess, and she hopes the current administration will do all they can to fix it, or we will get a better candidate in 2023.

Adegoke: Falana SAN Wants Osun AG’s Consent To Prosecute Adedoyin, Others

A renowned legal luminary and human rights lawyer, Femi Falana SAN who took over the case of the murdered OAU student, Timothy Adegoke which was later transferred to Osun state, has requested the Attorney-General of Osun State, Femi Akande, to grant a fiat or consent to bring the action in the AG’s name, the standing to prosecute the owner of Hilton Hotels in Ile-Ife, Dr Ramon Adedoyin, and six others for their alleged involvement in Timothy’s murder.

It would be recalled that the murder trial of the seven indicted in the suit, was first instituted in an Abuja court by the police, before being eventually transferred to an Osun State High Court following Falana’s intervention.

Adedoyin and other suspects, including Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Florence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola, were subsequently arraigned on March 3 on 11 counts bordering on conspiracy, murder, attempted felony, unlawful interference with a dead body, altering and intent to destroy evidence.

Falana is seeking fiat to prosecute the case on behalf of the state government.

The human rights lawyer argued that except he is given the powers of prosecution by the state government, he would not be able to pursue the case since murder is a crime against the state.

According to reports, the Osun AG, Akande, when contacted on the telephone, said he was awaiting the approval of Governor Gboyega Oyetola before responding to Falana’s request.

“The governor will take a decision on it,” he said in a text message when asked if the matter would be handed over to Falana.

ODUDUWA NEWS had reported that the defendants standing trial before Justice Adepele Ojo last week entered a no-case submission in their defence.

This followed the close of the prosecution case by the counsel, Mr O. Omosun, after calling eight witnesses.

Adedoyin’s counsel, Yusuf Alli (SAN), as well as the six other defendants, Mr Muritala Abdulrasheed (SAN), Roland Otaru (SAN), and Okon Ita all entered a no-case submission on behalf of the defendants in the matter.

‘Zah Zuh’ Singer, Habeeb Okikiola (Portable) involved in car accident

Fast-rising Nigerian singer, rapper, and dancer, Portable Omolalomi whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola is in the news again after sharing a video about his crashed ride Range Rover.

In a video making the round on social media, the singer survived a crash with his Range Rover ride.

The controversial singer however accused some people to be behind the evil situation.

The Odogwu Bitters ambassador said the crash happened after he applied the brake but he will fix it in no time.

The Zazu crooner on Tuesday took to his Instastory to give an account of how the crash happened.

In his post, he suggested that some people with fetish hands have touched the ride.

“Help me remove my car before it tumbles I applied the brake when it was going on a free movement.

They have an eye on this car, they’ve touched it with magical hands but nothing will happen to a child of God. I will remove part of the money we use for enjoyment to fix it, the front and back haven’t spoil,” he said.

In another post he wrote, “Thank God Modupe nothing spoil Zazuu motor.”

The controversial singer was gifted the Range Rover as a New Year’s gift in January 2022.

Okeho Youths Seal Off IBEDC Office Over Incessant Power Outage

Indigenes of Okeho Community, Kajola Local Government, Area of Oyo State have sealed off Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC branch office over alleged irregularity of electricity. The decision was said to have been taken on Tuesday, March 29 by the community youths and other stakeholders amidst tight security, sequel to epilepsy of electricity in the whole community.

In an interaction with a stakeholder who spoke under the
condition of anonymity stressed that the officials of IBEDC in
the community have been playing upon intelligence of
indigenes and entire dwellers in all metropolis making the local council.

He maintained that the community had been in total blackout
for the past eleven (11) days, justifying that they restored
electricity yesterday and they started distributing bills
immediately to the people.

An anonymous person lamented that the poor reactions of
IBEDC officials towards stability of electricity in the community is condemnable. He maintained that the sealing of branch office would remain until further notice.

While filing this report, all efforts made to speak with any of
the IBEDC officials proved abortive.

World Theatre Day Holds In Ado-Awaye

The 2022 edition of this year’s World Theater Day celebration took place yesterday, 27th March 2022, at the palace of His Royal Majesty Oba Rev’d Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi, Makuledoye 11, Asoludero 1, the Alado of Ado-Awaye land, Araromi LCDA.

The event of this year which was organised by Ado Awaye Tourism Heritage Development Initiative (ATHID) in conjunction with Oyo State Theater and Motion Picture Practitioners, features various programs of activities such as stage play, music performances,poem recitation, acrobatic display, award presentations,among others.

In his opening address, Kabiesi Alado of Ado-Awaye land and the Paramount traditional ruler in Araromi LCDA, His Royal Majesty Oba Rev’d Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi Makuledoye 11 Asoludero 1, appreciated the Oyo State TAMPAN under the able leadership of Yeye Oge Ross Odika for the partnership deed. Speaking further, Alado said that, today’s program was another milestone achieved in developing Ado mountain tourism center for the economic advancement of the state at large, and not Ado-Awaye community alone. He said,”I will not relent my efforts until Ado mountain tourism center is given the desired attention by the government. In his further address, Alado charged Oyo State TAMPAN to direct their theater profession to the advantages of Ado mountain tourism center through film acting and motion pictures.Finally, he wished every theater Practitioners a successful celebration.

In his keynote address, the Chairman of the day who was equally one of the awardees, Architect Muyiwa Ige,a former Commissioner for Lands and Housing in the State of Osun, expressed his happiness to the organizers of the program for given him the opportunity to be part of the epoch-making event of this year’s World Theater Day celebration. Architect Muyiwa said, theater profession has gone beyond imagination in view of it’s contributions to our national growths and developments. He stated further in his address that theater has been a veritable too for tourism and culture promotion and they were inseparable components.The Esa-Oke born politician and son of the late political icon and former Anthony General and Minister for Justice, Chief Ajibola Ige, said,”Ado Awaye and other towns in Oke-Ogun region of Oyo State are the second homes of my late father, that is why I am happy to be here at Ado Awaye and I am much ready to assist the Community”.

The Chairman, Oyo State Tourism Board, Elder Bode Adejumobi, while speaking on behalf of the Oyo State Government at the occasion, put ‘a path on the back’ of His Royal Majesty, Oba Rev’d Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi for his unrelenting efforts at making Ado mountain tourism center more popular among other tourism center in Nigeria and by extension in the whole of Africa. Elder Bode further reiterated the State Government’s determination in developing some tourism centers in the state among which Ado hill tourism center was taking the leading priority.He therefore appreciated the Oyo State TAMPAN and ATHID for the good initiative and he wished them happy celebration.

Nigeria Loses Out, Fails To Qualify For World Cup In Qatar After Ghana Draw

The Super Eagles on Tuesday were denied a World Cup ticket to Qatar after a dull 1-1 draw with Ghana at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja.

The first leg game in Kumasi had ended 0-0 leaving the Ghanaians to qualify on the away goal rules.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey had put Ghana in front early in the first half before Troost Ekong converted a penalty to level affairs minutes later.

However, the Super Eagles couldn’t find the crucial second goal, breaking the heart of millions of Nigerian football fans.

On his way to Lagos for the 13th Tinubu Colloquium marking former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s 70th birthday, VP had to detour to Kaduna this afternoon on receiving news of the extent of human & material losses occasioned by yesterday’s dastardly attack on the Abuja-Kaduna railway route.
