Trigger-Happy Police Officer Detained For Killing 18-Year-Old Girl In Lagos

ODUDUWA NEWS has gathered that the trigger-happy Police officer who shot 18-year-old admission-seeker dead has been arrested and detailed by Lagos Command.

This was disclosed yesterday in a statement made available by the Commissioner of Police to the newsmen eceived as read in part:

“It has come to the knowledge of the Lagos State Police Command that one Monsurat Ojuade (female) aged 18, was hit by a stray bullet at about 0100hrs of 11th September, 2021 when a team of detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti went on investigation activities to effect arrest of a robbery suspect in Ijeshatedo area of the State.

“Concerted efforts were made to save the life of the injured victim. She was immediately taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention but later died on the way to the hospital.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, regrets this unfortunate but avoidable incident and sincerely commiserates with the bereaved family in whose pain he shares in this moment of grief.

“This is therefore to inform the bereaved family, sympathizers and the general public that the erring Police officer who pulled the trigger has been identified and is currently being detained.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed that the said police officer should be tried and charged to court immediately after being dismissed from the Force. This, it is believed, will serve as deterrent to others who do not act professionally in the course of their duties.

“This singular sad incident notwithstanding, the Lagos State Police Command SHALL continue to strive vigorously and conscientiously to protect the lives and property of the citizens in the State”.

Two Feared Dead, Others Injured As 18-Seater Bus Crashes On Iseyin-Moniya Road

ODUDUWA NEWS has gathered that two people have been reportedly died while several others are in Coma as 18-seater Bus involved in accident on Iseyin-Moniya Road.

The two persons said to have lost their lives on Saturday night in a fatal accident involving an 18-seater bus and another vehicle on Iseyin-Moniya road, Oyo State.

According to reports, after the accident happened, one of the two corpses was left along the road covered, the other was taken away, also those in a coma and others with injuries were taken to an undisclosed hospital.

According to an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said that the bus and another vehicle were coming from Iseyin late on Saturday, while the former had to overtake with no sign of diversion and the later on the high speed collided with the bus.

The anonymous respondent stressed that the two persons wouldn’t have died provided there were people who could be of help to the victims.

When asked to disclose the hospital they were taken to, he said he had no knowledge of the place.

JUST IN: Suspected Armed Robber Arrested By Akobo Residents

Residents of Akobo area of Ibadan, in Oyo State on Wednesday, arrested one of the suspected armed robbers who has been terrorizing the area for so long.

The armed robber was arrested shortly after he and his gang robbed an eatery in the area.

The suspect who gave his name as Ayomide Adebayo was arrested after robbing an eatery around General Gas in Ibadan.

It was gathered that the suspect and his gang stormed the eatery and stole cash, phones and other valuables illegally from customers and the owner of the eatery.

While speaking to Journalists, an attendant explained that, “Luck ran out on them when one of my colleagues resisted them in their attempt to pack the money in their safe box.

In the process, one of the armed robbers escaped and joined the motorcyclist that was already waiting outside while the other one, who later identified himself as Ayomide Adebayo was caught.

The suspect was later taken to Akobo police station.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect has confessed that he and his partner hired the motorcyclist who carried them to the scene.

Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Mr Adewale Osifeso when contacted promised to send details of the incident after being briefed.

Osifeso in a short message on Wednesday said, “Good afternoon. I would get back to you please.”

Igboho Aides: Armed Robbers Hijack DSS Case File – Lawyer

The Counsel for the Department of State Service, I. Awo, told the Federal High Court, on Wednesday, that the case file relating to the Fundamental Human Rights Enforcement application filed by the aides to Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, was stolen by armed robbers.

He told Justice Obiora Egwuatu that his colleague who was to bring the case file to court had boarded a vehicle belonging to armed robbers commonly known as ‘one chance.’

According to him, his belongings including the case file were hijacked by the armed robbers.
Consequently, he applied for an adjournment.

IPYF Appreciates CCII For The Award of Promising Ibadan Youth Presented to Their National Coordinator and Five Other Youths.

The distinguished youths under the auspices of Ibadan Prime Youths Forum appreciates the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes under the leadership of Prince Oluyemisi Adetayo Adeaga for being more youth friendly and for honouring its National Coordinator —Dr. Oluwatunmise Victor Adeagbo as a Promising Ibadan Youth.

In his Presidential speech at the Inauguration Ceremony on Saturday, Prince Oluyemisi Adetayo Adeaga declared that his administration will invest more in youth development as that is the only way to secure enviable future for Ibadan Land. He emphasized the saying by honouring six youths as Promising Ibadan Youths.

Talking to the correspondent of Oduduwa News at the event, IPYF through its Secretary appreciated the entire leadership of CCII for co-opting more worthy and well-meaning youths in various activities of the Council. The forum joyfully appreciate the honour done on its National Coordinator —Dr. Oluwatunmise Victor Adeagbo who was one of the six awarded youths, that the honour done on those distinguished youths will encourage more youth participation in CCII activities.

The forum described the new PG as a round peg in round hole and prayed to God Almighty to grant him and his team the wherewithal to actualize their dreams and move Ibadan to greater heights.

Also, the forum ceased the opportunity to congratulate the President-General —Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga and other members of the National Executive Council once again, and wished them a successfully productive tenure.

CCII Youths Laud Governor Oluseyi Makinde For Making Giant Developmental Strides.

Ibadan Prime Youths Forum which is the Youth Annex of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes has appreciated His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde for his investment in Youth development in the State, most especially Ibadan land.

The Governor, during his speech presentation at the inauguration ceremony of CCII promised a 10million Naira scholarship scheme for Ibadan Indigenes. He also promised to complete the new Olubadan Palace.

Among the promises made by the Governor is the completion of 75km out of the over 100km Ibadan Circular Road, willingness to complete the Iwo Road and Challenge Bus Terminals as all these projects and will contribute to the development of Ibadan.

In his reaction, the IPYF President who is also a CCII awardee, Dr Oluwatunmise Adeagbo appreciated the Governor for all his developmental project for Oyo State and Ibadanland.No

Dr Tunmise Adeagbo emphasized that Oyo State government led by His excellency Governor Seyi Makinde has devised a lot of program that will positively engage the Youths of Ibadan land. A #10 Million scholarship scheme for youths of Ibadan descent through CCII is a good step in the right direction as this will ease the financial burden of the prospective beneficiaries in time like this when many students are finding it difficult to meet basic needs.

‘We are ready to mobilize youths of Ibadanland to key into the various youth empowerment program in the state’, the Youth leader reiterated.

The IPYF President said “Governor Seyi Makinde’s promise as regards the completion of Olubadan Palace has proved once again that he is a true son of the soil that wants the best for the city.
