A team of officials of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), led by the Director NEW TVET, Institution Registration Department, Dr. (Mrs) Fatima Kabir Umar over the weekend were at Iseyin on implementation and physical infrastructure inspection visit, towards the process of accreditation of four courses for Iseyin College of Science and Health Technology, Iseyin.

The team met with the Proprietor of the College, Mr Adewale Owoseni, the Acting Provost, Mr Peter Ibiyosi and the management members of the institution, who took the visitors around the school facilities after series of meetings with the hosts.

While speaking with newsmen after the visit, Dr. Fatima hinted that the visit was hinged upon assessing the readiness of the institution to offer courses in medical and health technology.

“We came on masterplan implementation and physical infrastructure inspection to the school and we have done all the needful to assess the readiness of the school to train students in health technology.

“The school authority made good preparations ahead our arrival and we are impressed with what we saw on ground,” she stated.

The Proprietor, Iseyin College of Science and Health Technology, Mr. Adewale Owoseni said the institution has put all necessary things in place to train students that will make positive impacts in the medical practice in Nigeria and beyond.

He added that the three courses that the NBTE team came to inspect the school for include National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, National Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology and National Diploma in Community Health Technology.

“These three courses are most important in the medical industry and we are poised to train students that will not just get certificates without job, but those that will easily get employment opportunities and as well establish personal health facilities of their owns to provide health services to the people.

“We appreciate the NBTE team, led by Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, for coming this far for the inspection and sincerity of purpose, as they have put us through on the areas we must work on for speedy accreditation,” he said.

The residents of Iseyin and other religious leaders from various places in Nigeria have called on Oyo State Muslim Community to institute a legal case for the prosecution of a Pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Imuse, Iseyin, who on Ileya festival day led a team of hoodlums in military uniform to attack and wound an Islamic cleric and his wives.

It was learnt that two of the wives, who were all clothed in Islamic purdah. one of whom was pregnant was molested, beaten to stupor and her leg broken by the enraged hoodlums.

The Pastor who was identified as Pastor Busari Stephen of CAC Karangba, Odo-omu Iseyin, Oyo State said to have been at a loggerhead for a long period of time with the Alfa over a land dispute.

It was gathered that the said land belonged to Alfa Sulaiyman AbdulAzeez Taiwo, as shown in document in his possession and that he had complained of encroachment of the passerby of his land to the Pastor but all turned to deaf ears.

It was gathered that on the eve of Sallah, Alfa got back from the praying ground and proceeded to slaughter his ram on a path which he created, he was confronted by his neighbour who is a Pastor as to why he was slaughtering ram on the path, the Alfa responded that it’s a portion of his compound that he just decided not to fence so as to avail neighbours who reside behind him a passage and he decided to slaughter his ram there because it is his land. The pastor became mad at the response and called his child who was said to be a soldier recruit and he came to the venue with accomplices and they started descending on the Alfa and his relatives.

The incident that has now drawn condemnation from people said to have begun on the Ileya day when the Islamic cleric began to slaughter his ram immediately after Eid prayer. It was learnt that he was heavily descended on by men who were clothed in military uniform allegedly led by the son of the pastor and in the process the Alfa and his wives were injured and one other person’s hand was cut with knife by the said hoodlums.

A resident who spoke to ODUDUWA NEWS under the condition of anonymity on the incident said, “It was learnt that the CAN chairman in Iseyin has been reaching out to the stakeholders and Muslim clerics in the town to downplay the incident and to prevent the incident from snowballing into a religious war by seeking a softland for the culprits to shield them from facing the wrath of law. All what we want is justice for the victims. We are peace-loving people but any attempt to victimize us will be resisted legally”.

In their words, Abdulhakim, Adebola and several others who spoke to ODUDUWA NEWS called on the Muslim community to rise to the occasion and ensure that all the culprits are brought to book. “The police must not compromise on this case at all. Muslim lawyers should act swiftly to ensure that justice is served on all the criminal elements who perpetrated this crime”.

According to him, the fire at Christ Embassy Church on Billings Way, Oregun, has prompted a swift response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters are working tirelessly to bring the situation under control as a sense of urgency permeates the air.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown, leaving many in suspense. Thankfully, there have been no reports of casualties, offering a glimpse of hope amidst the chaos.

As the fire service battles the flames, a crowd of onlookers has gathered, including concerned residents and church members. Christ Embassy Church, with its substantial congregation and community presence, stands as a symbolic landmark in the Oregun area, adding to the gravity of the unfolding situation.

A 300 level student of Federal University, Oye Ekiti in Ekiti state, Rachael Olufogbe, has been arrested following a physical assault on a fellow student on Saturday.

It was reported that the incident took place at private hostel located in Oye Egbo, a community outside the school the school premises.

It was gathered that the victim moved Olufogbe’s clothes to create space on the clothesline before spreading her clothes. Consequently, Olufogbe disagreed which leads to exchnagr of words between the two.

The matter escalated quickly as Olufogbe was said to have pick a blade to inflict bodily injuries on the victim.

Confirming the report from the school VC, he explained that the suspect is already in the police custody which make the situation to go beyond the managent’s control.

The Oyo State government has implemented measures to prevent cholera outbreak in public basic schools, advising Headteachers to ensure that food handlers follow strict hygiene practices to prevent contamination.

The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran handed down the instruction today, in Ibadan.

He said, the Oyo State government, through the Board, is on top of its game to ensure public basic schools are taking steps to ensure the health and safety of students.

Adeniran equally urged parents, guardians, and school authorities to adhere to safety guidelines.

Dr. Adeniran said rhe board will work with Education Secretaries, HeadTeachers, and other stakeholders to ensure strict compliance.

The advisory emphasised the importance of hand hygiene, recommending that children carry hand sanitizers and frequently wash their hands with soap and water, especially before meals and after using the restroom.

Dr. Adeniran also recommended that schools keep Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) available in school clinics to manage dehydration cases promptly and to notify the State emergency hotline, 615, immediately in case of any health emergencies or suspected cholera cases.

Adeniran said preventive measures including comprehensive health talks on cholera prevention among learners and staff, and safe drinking water practices, will be conducted regularly.

In a shocking turn of events, a deranged kidnapper was apprehended with five children in Oju Irowo, Isale Eko, Lagos.

The sinister individual, unmasked as a madman, was found with the innocent children in his captivity, sparking a wave of concern and anxiety throughout the community.

As news of the kidnapper’s capture spreads, families who have lost children recently are being urged to visit Isale Eko in Lagos to identify and claim any children recovered from the kidnapper’s clutches.
