Students of Gateway Polytechnic Saapade, Ogun State, have cried out over the incessant r%bbery attacks their school.

This comes as a student from the department of Public administration, identified simply as Segun, was shot dead on Friday night, December 1.

The students, who recently staged a protest, lament that their hostels have become robbers’ den.

According to a student who spoke with Oduduwa News, “We want to bring the awareness of the general public to what we are going through because it seems the school is trying to hide it.

We are in pain, we are struggling, we can’t sleep in peace at night because of daily robberies going on in the town where the school is located.

The students are robbed daily and those who argue or drug their properties with the armed robbers are kIlled. We have lost our fellow students to these hardened criminals and the number is increasing everyday.

The female students who doesn’t have anything to offer the robbers were gang raped; some to dead, others are recorded and blackmailed.

We protested, we shouted, we did everything possible for this to stop but our darling school did nothing about it because none of the lecturers or school staff are victims of these armed robberies.

All they did was to increase the school fee and they mandate us to pay within certain days. We are scared to lose our lives because of education, we have no protection even vigilantes who tried to stop them are also kIlled. We are hopeless, we need help in Saapade.”
