Omo-Ajorosun Club and Gbobaniyi Olubadan Club, Lagos Forge Partnership for Charity Projects

In a significant move to foster collaboration and community development, the Omo-Ajorosun Club of Ibadan hosted the Gbobaniyi Club of Lagos led by thier President Alhaja Rukayat Atoke Ade in a special program held on Friday , 14th June 2024 at the Omo-Ajorosun Club premises. The event marked the beginning of a partnership aimed at executing joint charity and palliative projects in Ibadan, with activities planned at least once every quarter.

Egbe Gbobaniyi Olubadan of Ibadanland, a socio-cultural club comprising Ibadan indigenes residing in Lagos State, joined hands with Omo-Ajorosun Club to address pressing community needs through these initiatives. The collaboration is expected to significantly impact local communities by providing essential support and relief to those in need.

Engr. Sunday Gbenjo, President of Omo-Ajorosun Club, emphasized the importance of the partnership, highlighting the shared values and commitment to social responsibility that both clubs embody. “This collaboration signifies our dedication to giving back to our roots and making a tangible difference in the lives of our people,” he stated.

In a gesture of appreciation for their visit and commitment, Engr. Gbenjo, on behalf of Omo-Ajorosun Club, presented a talking drum to the Gbobaniyi Club. The talking drum, a symbol of Yoruba culture and communication, signifies the strong bond and mutual respect between the two clubs.
Members of both clubs expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming joint projects, which will focus on various areas including healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation. These initiatives are designed to provide sustainable support and improve the quality of life for the residents of Ibadan.
Present at the meeting alongside the Gbobaniyi President includes; Alhaja Balikis Akala, Club Secretary; Chief Babatunde Musiliu Adabiyi, Mogaji Gbobaniyi club; Alhaja Ganiya Badmus, Club Treasurer; Alhaji Alisukuna Akanni, Club Adviser and Olori Ayinke, yeye oge, among others.

The Egbe Omo-Ajorosun Club President was also joined by the immediate former President of the club, Alhaji Abiola Alli and other members of the club executive council.

As Omo-Ajorosun Club and Gbobaniyi Club of Lagos embark on this collaborative journey, their efforts are set to bring about positive change and foster a spirit of unity and progress within the Ibadan community. The Gbobaniyi Club that is recently formed are looking for direction and mentorship from Omoajorosun club that have been existing in Ibadan since 1980 contributing their quota to the social cultural development of Ibadan giving out scholarship to the children of the poor and upholding and promoting the ideals of Ibadan cultures.

Eid-El-Kabir: Iyaloja General Distributes Food and Cash to Bodija Market Traders

In the spirit of Eid-El-Kabir, the Iyaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje, has extended her generosity to the market men and women of Bodija Market by distributing food items and cash. Chairman Kamorudeen Strengthens Team with Key Appointments, Names Opeyemi Rasheed Chief of Staff

The Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Mr. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, has officially appointed Olubiyi Opeyemi Rasheed as his Chief of Staff, along with three other close aides. The announcement was made on Monday at the council secretariat in Iyana-Offa.

Opeyemi Rasheed, a native of Lalupon who served as Chief of Staff in the previous administration, will continue his role under the new leadership of Mr. Kamorudeen. His reappointment underscores the Chairman’s confidence in his capabilities and experience.
In addition to Rasheed’s appointment, Mr. Kamorudeen named three other individuals to support his administration:

  1. Abass Adeyemo – Personal Assistant to the Executive Chairman
  2. Ishola Ridwan – Domestic Assistant to the Executive Chairman
  3. Ridwan Salawu – Official Photographer to the Executive Chairman

These appointments are part of the Chairman’s strategy to ensure efficient and effective governance. 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week: Ibadan All Youths Day, Ayo Olopon, Table Tennis Finals holds on Tuesday

The 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week Central Planning Committee under the leadership of Balogun Gaphar Ojetola has announced that the finals of Ayo olopon and Table Tennis will hold on Tuesday, June 4th at the Bode Amao Hall, Ibadan House by 9am.

Similarly, the Ibadan All Youths Day, which is dedicated towards addressing issues and challenges affecting the youth of Ibadanland will hold that same day and scheduled to commence by 12noon.

This program is a continuation of this year’s staggered activity of the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee as earlier approved by the President General CCII, Chief Barrister Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole and the CCII Executive Council.

The topic for this year’s program is “Drug Addiction of Young Generation in Nigeria; Perspective, Causes and way forward” which is to be delivered by the State Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Oyo Command, and to feature panel discussion from religious leaders, community and traditional leaders, youth groups, including legal perspective.

The program has been scheduled to have Hon. Akeem Ige, Chairman Oyo State Local Government Pension Board as the Chairman of the day; Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, Commissioner for Youth and Sports as the Chairperson,; Olori Adebimpe as the Mother of the day, including other notable personalities as Special Guests of Honor.

The program will commence by 12noon at the Asiwaju Bode Amao Hall, Ibadan House.

2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival kicks off this Friday


Chairman, 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee,Balogun Abdulgafar Ojetola has announced the commencement of this year Ibadan Week.


Balogun Ojetola in a statement in Ibadan said “the planning committee has considered it necessary to go ahead with some of the events which had been scheduled to hold in April before the unfortunate demise of late Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland”.


It would be recalled that the Committee shifted the programs of the 2024 Ibadan Week indefinitely after the demise of the late Olubadan. The event ought to have been held between April 14th and 20th.


According to Balogun Ojetola,” this time around, we are going to have staggered events which will kick off on Friday, May 31st with Talent hunts and Orekelewa brain and beauty pageant competition at Bode Amao hall,Ibadan house, Oke Aremo, Ibadan. This decision was arrived at after due consultation and approval of the Executives of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII.
The program is expected to be declared open by the Chairperson of Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, Chief Mrs Dotun Olaitan.
Other eminent personalities expected to grace the occasion include a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Stanley Adedeji Odidiomo, Ibadan North West/ South West Federal Constituency, Dr Oladeji Salami a.k.a Dikko, the Chairman, Pacesetter Transport Services among others
Other events to follow include Ibadan All Youth Day Symposium, Table Tennis and Ayo Olopan competitions on June 4,2024, Ibadan Conference, Stage Play and Golf Competition on June 14,2024.

CCII Visits Omoola Travels & Tours, To Be Decorated As Ambassador of Ibadan Culture

The Central Planning Committee of the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week Chairman; Balogun Gaphar Ojetola, The Chairperson of Orekelewa Brain and Beauty Pageant Sub-committee; Chief Mrs Temitope Afolake Awotunde and a powerful member of the Committee; Mr Animasahun Abdulhameed on Monday, 27th May 2024 paid a working visit to the Chairman/CEO of Omoola Travels and Tour; Alhaji Kazeem Olaniyan, as part of the activities of the 2024 Cultural Festival and a follow up to the earlier visitation paid to him by the Orekelewa Brain and Beauty Pageant Sub-committee.

During the visit, he redeemed his pledge of N1m he early promised to support the Orekelewa Brain and Beauty Pageant Sub-committee by presenting the cheque to the Chairman of 2024 Cultural Festival Week, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola.
Furthermore, the Chairman, informed him of the decision of the CCII to honour him with the title of the Ambassador of Ibadan Culture, in recognition of his contribution to the economy of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.
Alhaji Kazeem Olaniyan accepted the honor and promised to continue to do more for Ibadanland.
His decoration will take place on Friday, 31st May 2024 during the finals of Orekelewa Brain and Beauty Pageant Competition at the Bode Amao Hall.

Students, parent sensitized by IVAC in preparations for HPV VI roll out on May 27


The Mega School Sensitization Programme held at Queen of Apostole, Oluyoro, Ibadan organized by Centre for Disaster Risk and Crisis Reduction (CDRCR), in partnership with International Vaccine Access Centre (IVAC), Direct Consulting and Logistics (DCL), National Primary Health Care Development (NPHCDA), Women Advocates for Vaccine Access (WAVA) with funding from Johns Hopkins, was a huge success as it witnessed a large turnout of students, parents, caregivers and other stakeholders in the community. In his welcome address, Mr. Kolawole Amusat, the Executive Director, Centre for Disaster Risk and Crisis Reduction, appreciated participating schools and parents for their believe in the sensitization programme put up by International Vaccine Access Centre (IVAC) and other stakeholders to ensure communities fully participated in the HPV vaccination when rolled out so as to protect their children and wards against cervical cancer. He expressed that the only good thing any girl-child within the ages 9 to 14 can do to herself is to get the vaccine, as it is the only protection they can get against cervical cancer in the future. He therefore concluded that the HPV vaccine has been introduced earlier in some States around October, 2023 and it is considered safe and effective; it will also be administered free for all eligible girls during the phase 2 starting from May 27, 2024.
In her own remarks, Mrs Aremu, the Principal of Queen of Apostles, Oluyoro extended her appreciation to the Governments of Nigeria and other partners in the HPVVI project, specifically IVAC/DCL for making sensitization of students a priority. She noted that the facts on HPV vaccine as a form of protection against cervical cancer that will be presented to students during the sensitization will trigger their consciousness about the cancer, and the importance of being vaccinated. The principal remarked that ‘this sensitization will clear air on various misconceptions about the HPV Vaccine, while students and parents here present will know the truth and spread it among other members of their community that the vaccine is safe and effective’. Alhaji Amusa Odelade who led other community leaders to the event cannot hide his feelings as he promised that the various wards and communities in Ibadan North East Local Government will work with relevant government bodies and partners to record huge success in the phase 2 introduction of the HPV vaccine. Odelade expressed that ‘we community leaders are working round the clock to support the HPV vaccination in our Local Government. We want Ibadan North East to record 100percent vaccination of our girls so that in the future there will be zero case of cervical cancer.
Other highlights of the events are presentations from Medical Women Association of Nigeria represented by Dr. Olalude; Child Protection Network, Oyo State Chapter represented by Mrs Agnes Tola-Winjobi (a retired Nursing Officer); Mrs Salawu who is the health educator, Ibadan North East Local Government. And the closing remark was presented by the Local Inspector of Education, Ibadan North East who was ably represented by her Assistant. Inauguration of Students from various participating schools as “Students HPV Vaccine Champions and Ambassadors took place while students from Queen of Apostle Oluyoro and Community Grammar School, Iwo-Road also entertained the audience with short but enriching drama on cervical cancer and HPV vaccine.

CCII Visits OYO NYSC Coordinator, Mr Odoba Abel Oche, To Receive Recognition Award

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes through the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival paid a working visit to the Office of the State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps, Oyo State, Mr. Odoba Abel Oche.

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes team was lead by Balogun Gaphar Ojetola, Chairman, 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week Central Committee.

Delivering the goodwill message of the President-General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief Barr Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola stated that the exceptional leadership style and the good work the NYSC State Coordinator has reached the hearing of the President-General, and the Ibadan people, most especially Ibadan being the only Megalopolis city within the Southern Sahara with an Indigenous Secretariat where issues that concerns both Indigenes and residents of the city are been attended to.

The Chairman highlighted the activities that make up Ibadan Cultural Festival, which aimed at celebrating the cultural heritage and upholding the legacies of our ancestors, which has been modified to feature other developmental activities like Youth Empowerment and Development, which was what necessitated the visit, to commend the State Coordinator on the good work he’s doing in the State, and also for possible future collaboration between Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes and the State NYSC on Youth Employment and Development.
The Chairman, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola on behalf of the President -General, Chief Barr Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole informed the State Coordinator that despite being a non-indigene, he has been nominated for special recognition and award of honour during the Cultural Festival in recognition of his tremendous contribution to youth development in Ibadanland . It will be recalled that this is the first time such honour will be bestowed on the NYSC and her State Coordinator in the history.

The visiting team were received by the State Coordinator alongside Mrs Christy Olatoye; Assistant Director on Press & Public Relations, Dr. Solomon Babalola; Assistant Director on Protocol, Mr Kola Oladele – Media Officer, and other NYSC State official.

In his response, Mr Odoba Abbel Oche profoundly appreciated the Council for finding him worthy of the visit, and most importantly the conferment of award, as he reiterated his commitment to the welfare and development of corps members in the State.
“I profoundly appreciate you for this visit, my appreciation goes to the leadership of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes. People are remember for what they contribute and not what they consume”
“Ibadan deserves a State, I have being to many places but I can say that Ibadan stand out, including the people, they are accomodating which makes our work here easier, different Ibadan people have been supporting us in the welfare of corps members, as we have being receiving donation of buildings for the use of corps members”

In his closing remark, the State Coordinator affirmed that Ibadan is peaceful, and he has being enjoying robust cooperation from both the Staff and the host community, and stated that his door is open anytime for issues concerning the city as it relate to his office.
