Ghanian Police have started investigation on the death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun, Olanrewaju alias “Success” during boxing bout on Friday.
Gabriel was seen in a fight with Ghanaian counterpart Jon Mbanugu for the light heavyweight international contest for the professional boxing league of Ghana when he suddenly collapsed and died.
Statement from Ghana Boxing Authority confirmed that “Gabriel fell on top of the ropes after the third round without any punch from his opponent and was immediately rushed to hospital after the first aid was administered.
The Boxing Authority confirmed that Gabriel Oluwasegun was pronounced dead 30 minutes after arriving Korlebu Teaching Hospital.”
Leader of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Abraham Kotei Neequaye disclosed that he has briefed the Secretary of the Nigerian Boxing Board Control (NBBC), Remi Aboderin about the incident.
