The State government of Osun has reacted to the statement credited to APC over allegation leveled against misappropriation of funds.
This statement was released by the State Government as read in part:
“There was a concern about the spreading rumors propagated by the opposition party, APC in Osun, regarding Governor Adeleke’s alleged neglect of State pensioners’ welfare and the purported downward restructuring of workers’ salaries and allowances.
“The State government categorically rejects these baseless claims by the APC, and it is imperative for the people of Osun, as well as the wider public, to recognize this strategy of spreading rumors as an attempt to divert attention from the commendable governance efforts of Sen. Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke.
“It is important to note that within the relatively short period of just under 10 months in office, the Osun State government has made substantial progress in addressing the pensioners’ issues, including the settlement of arrears and gratuities across the board.
“Furthermore, the State government has successfully paid three months’ out of the 30-month arrears inherited from the previous APC administration. Additionally, the government has ensured the implementation of cash-backed promotions for state civil service workers from 2019 to 2022.
“The State government has also demonstrated its commitment to retirees by disbursing N3.6 billion towards retiree pensions for secondary and tertiary institutions. In addition, N4.9 billion in gratuities has been paid to retirees from the same institutions. Local government and primary school retirees have received their N8.57 billion in gratuities and pensions.
“Consequently, under the capable and visionary leadership of Sen. Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke, the State government has effectively cleared a total sum of N17.07 billion in pension and gratuity payments from November 2022 to the present.
“The people of Osun should rest assured that Governor Adeleke is wholeheartedly committed to their welfare, and he is dedicated to thoroughly examining and implementing the manifestos of our great party, the PDP, as promised during the campaign”.
