The bereaved mother of late Temitope Olorufemi, who was beaten to death by a mob in Akure, Ondo state, has revealed that her son is neither a yahoo boy nor ritualist as reported by eyewitnesses.
It would be recalled that on Monday, April 10, the deceased was killed after he was accused of crushing at least one person to death along Ijoka road and fetish items were found in his car.
However, the deceased’s mom in an interview, explained that her 25-year-old son was a cabbie and had been gifted the car by his dad. Mrs Olorunfemi, noted that after the deceased completed his studies at Marshal’s Navy school in Ogun state, proceeded to Lagos in search of greener pasture. But, after a while, he returned home because he was struggling in Lagos.
She stated that the incident which brought about Temitope’s death happened during his visit to Akure for the Easter holiday to see his wife and child who came for his grandmother’s burial ceremony.
Mosunmola, the deceased’s wife, who tearfully corroborated her mother in-law’s report, noted that her husband is not a ritualist and has never been found to be a fraudster. She noted that Temitope had a lot of customers in Lagos that could testify to the fact that he was a cabbie. However, the family urged the state government to help get justice for the deceased.
