In a tragic incident on the early hours of Monday, four lives were lost along the Lagos-Ibadan highway in Ogun State. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that the fatal crash took place around 12:45 am.
According to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for FRSC in Ogun State, a total of 21 individuals were involved in the accident, including 13 male adults and eight female adults. Among them, three individuals – one male and two females – sustained injuries in the collision.
Regrettably, all four of the deceased victims were male adults. The accident involved a luxury bus with registration number ACA533ZP and another vehicle without a visible registration number.
Excessive speed, leading to a loss of control, is suspected to be the primary cause of the crash, as stated by Okpe. The injured individuals were promptly transported to Famobis Hospital for medical care, while the deceased were taken to the Idera morgue.
Anthony Uga, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, expressed that this incident could have been prevented if necessary precautions and adherence to simple rules had been observed. He urged motorists to exercise caution, especially at night when visibility is reduced due to poor lighting conditions.
Uga also extended his condolences to the families of the victims and encouraged them to reach out to the FRSC Mowe unit Command for further details about the accident.
