The executive members and representatives of Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union FOSSU have been sacked by the zonal chapters for flagrant disregard to constitution, abuse of office and tenure elongation. This decision was made in a joint meeting held in Ibadan yesterday by all Zonal Chapters as monitored by ODUDUWA NEWS.
The copy of the communique of the meeting signed by all five zonal presidents of FOSSU and sent to Oduduwa News is reproduced in part:
AMALGAMATION OF ZONAL PRESIDENTS, FOSSU NATIONAL COUNCIL, OYO STATE.
“BEING THE RESOLUTION OF THE ZONAL PRESIDENTS (FIBSU, FIBSA, FOGSU, NAOOS AND NAOS) AT THE MEETING HELD ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 10, 2021 AT EXACT 03:38 PM AT AGODI GARDEN, IBADAN, OYO STATE.

Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU National Council), is the Apex indigenous Association representing Oyo state Students in all tertiary institutions across Nigeria. The indigenous Association which was established on the existence of 5 zones viz-a-viz; Ibadan, Ibarapa, Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun and Oyo Zones. As Nigeria cannot be addressed as a country without her 36states, FOSSU National council is not a fulfilled indigenous Association without these five Zones.
The last executives of FOSSU National council were inaugurated on the 6th of January, 2020 and failed to do the necessities by forming the electoral committee and conduct election for the next administration of FOSSU National amongst the entire Students Populace of Oyo State due to negligence of their duties and no confidence in themselves before the end of their Administration on the 6th of January, 2021.
As it stands, the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU National Council) has no administrators running the affairs of the Association for the past 8months.
It is on this note the Zonal Presidents that constituted the above Association refused to keep quiet and calm and began to take steps to restore the image of our dear Association.
In lieu of the above, the five Zonal Presidents sprang up to action and the following resolutions were made at a meeting held on Friday, 10th September,2021.
(i). The Zonal Presidents hereby agreed that anybody parading himself or herself as a FOSSU National Executive/ Representative or staging any occasion under FOSSU National Umbrella anywhere and anytime within or outside Oyo State shall be addressed as impersonators and dealt with accordingly.
(ii). The Zonal Presidents are to nominate electoral committee from their zones respectively on or before Wednesday 15th, September 2021.
(iii). FOSSU National 2021 Electoral Committee shall be called upon and inaugurated on Friday September 17, 2021.
(iv). Interested Aspirants wanting to contest for the next FOSSU National election should surface and begin Campaign in due time.
(V). All other processes for the next election shall be communicated to the entire Students populace in due time.
The zonal Presidents hereby advise all members to remain calm as we remain resolute and firm on these decisions”.
