The bread bakers in Iwo under the aegis of Master Bakers Association, today, Friday, 10th September, 2021 went to attack Albadr Bakers, another independent group of bread bakers in Iwo, for not hiking the cost of their bread. This happened at Aanu Olu Bread, Agbowo area in Iwo, Osun State.
It was reported that the group of attackers with some rented thugs were led by someone called Alhaji Areweyo, the chairman of the Master Bakers in Iwo. During the attack, a pregnant woman, who came to purchase bread was also beaten and wounded.
“We can’t continue to add to the emotional distress of the people which economic hardship of the country had caused. They came, destroyed our bread, took away our money, destroyed flours and beat our customers” said, one of Albadr Bakers.
In his reaction, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, the Taawun President, attributed this behaviour of the Master Bakers as barbaric, inhuman, and stupidity of the highest order. “This is not a lawless country where you can do anyhow. We urge our security agents to do their job and bring the perpetrators to book. This can’t continue. There must be justice” Sheikh said.
