Nine former students from the Faculty of Law at Lagos State University have been designated as judges in the Lagos High Court.

They were among the 13 judges selected for the Lagos State High Court recently.

In a statement shared on its official platform on Monday, the university highlighted that this group comprised the largest number of alumni appointed to such positions simultaneously in the university’s history.

The alumni appointed as judges include Hon. Justice Sunmonu Tunde Bashiru, Hon. Justice Alebiosu Olawale Lawal, Hon. Justice Anjorin-Ajose Tanimola Abdulwaheed, Hon. Justice Muyodeen Abdul-Raheem Tejumade, Hon. Justice George Alfred Akingbola, Hon. Justice Balogun Adegboyega Ganiu, Hon. Justice Badejo-Okusanya Yewande Jokotola, Hon. Justice Ojuromi Nalirat Olayinka Oluwatosin, and Hon. Justice Adewale Russel Musiliu.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olatunji-Bello, praised the judges on their appointments, emphasizing that reaching such a prestigious position required immense effort, dedication, and sacrifice to the legal profession. She also commended their substantial contributions to the Lagos State judiciary.

Prof. Olatunji-Bello attributed the success of the judges to the exceptional educational foundation provided by the Faculty of Law at the university, encouraging them to uphold the highest ethical standards and discharge their duties with integrity while reminding them of the importance of serving with a sense of accountability to a higher authority.

Additionally, the university highlighted that earlier in February, ten graduates from its Faculty of Law had excelled by achieving first-class degrees at the Nigerian Law School’s final Bar Examinations.
