The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chairmen across Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory, have declared their intention to submit the names of prominent individuals allegedly involved in anti-party activities during the 2023 elections.

After the 2023 presidential election, numerous party members have called for penalties against specific individuals believed to have acted against the party’s interests.

Among those are former governors Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose, and Samuel Ortom, among others.

During a recent PDP National Working Committee (NWC) meeting with state chairmen in Abuja, the PDP National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, underscored the importance of identifying individuals engaged in anti-party activities.

In response, Felix Hyatt, the PDP Chairman of Chairmen and Kaduna State Chairman, disclosed that the state chairpersons have the backing of the NWC to discipline specific individuals at the state level under the party’s constitution.

“The issue of discipline and anti-party activities are localized matters; it is not a matter of nationally given directives,” Hyat stated.

“The national leadership does not prevent state chapters from addressing issues. Politics is a local issue, so state chapters have the right to address matters from their perspective,” he added.

He affirmed that state chairmen would take appropriate action, and names of those they cannot discipline would be forwarded to the national leadership.

“The state chairmen will take the bold step, and those whom they cannot discipline, their names will be forwarded to the national [leadership]. Yes, even the constitution is very clear on that,” he stated.
