The EFCC invited Oyo kingmakers yesterday in response to bribery allegations, which arose from a petition by a candidate vying for the vacant Alaafin of Oyo throne.
It was gathered that the petitioner alleged that the kingmakers collected bribes running into millions of naira to favour a particular candidate, hence the decision of EFCC to summon the kingmakers for questioning.
Only Oloye Agbaakin and Oloye Samu honoured the EFCC invitation while Basorun, Lagunna and Akinniku were said to be absent.
Recall, there has been a lot of controversies and intrigues surrounding the appointment of new Alaafin of Oyo. Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde had earlier alleged the kingmakers of corruption in the selection process. He made the disclosure known publicly during the commissioning of LAUTECH Iseyin Campus that he would henceforth drag the kingmakers to EFCC if they do not desist from such act.
