Ado-Awaye Agog As IGP Alkali Baba Commissions Ultra Modern Police Station, Barracks

The people of ancient town of Ado Awaye, Oke-Ogun region, Oyo State, South-West, Nigeria, on Friday 30 December, 2022 trooped out in multitudes to welcome the number one Police officer in Nigeria, IGP Usman Ankali Baba, psc(+),NPM,NEAPS,fdc,CFR during the occasion of his working visit and official commissioning of ultra modern Police Station and Police Barracks.

In his welcome remarks, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Williams psc(+),fdc welcomed the IGP Usman Ankali Baba who was represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Supervising South -Western Commands and DIG, FCIID, DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo mni to Ado Awaye town, Oyo State on the occasion of his official commissioning of the ultra-modern station and Barracks. Speaking further, CP Adebowale Williams described Ado-Awaye town as a pre-historic Western settlement, famous for its civilisation and resourcefulness which predate the 18th century. He added that Ado Awaye town was known for its composition of highly cerebral and sophisticated individuals whose knack for hospitality, creativity and entrepreneurship is overwhelming. Adding that, Ado Awaye being the home of the famous Iyake suspended lake which attracts tourists in their drones from around the continent and indeed the world to witness Nature’s perfection, needs high profile security outfits.

While basking under the euphoria of the distinct foresight and goodwill of the 21st indigenous IGP, Commissioner Adebowale said that,”It is soothing to note that the IGP has always placed premium concerns for the protection of lives and properties of residents in the state, considering its large expanse land mass, diverse population fused with different cultures, topography and enveloped by a long stretch of forest areas of reserves .”

CP Adebowale also noted that the expanded review of the security architecture by the IGP Usman Ankali Baba psc(+),NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR was a prompt response to the yearnings of residents, commuters and road users plying the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

This undoubtedly led to the deployment of additional operational and tactical resources to the Command in a bid to help strengthen security coverage along the axis. According to him, the efforts have yielded positive results and it has been the strings of recent achievements adduced to the Oyo State Command in concert with support from its communal partners under the auspices of the Community Policing Scheme.

The number one Police officer in Oyo state also noted that the Inspector General of Police, inspired the Historic signing of the Oyo State peace Accord, held on Friday 2 December, 2022 after providing some senior Police officers with much needed experience and guidance at the recently concluded 3rd Edition of Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers held in owerri, Imo State under the theme; “The Important of Nigeria Police Strategic plan For Peaceful Elections.”

In his further address, he specially appreciated the IGP Usman Ankali Baba for his kind consideration in prioritising welfare incentives not just to the Oyo State Police Command but to the entirety of the force. He equally appreciated him for the Health Insurance Policies, upkeep for the families of the deceased officers and the provisions of tactical equipment.


CP Adebowale Williams concluded his address with an expression of appreciation to all sister agencies, Non -State actors, Communer Stakeholders, the Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC), Media Support Partners and Trado-Religious leaders of various degrees of influence whose partnership in riding the Oyo state off undesirable criminal elements has been topnotch. In his final remark, he assured the IGP of Oyo State Police Command’s improved commitment toward effective implementation of crime fighting strategies,in accordance to standard best practices.

The Inspector General of Police,IGP Usman Alkali Baba,Psc (+) NPM,NEAPS,Fdc,CFR represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Supervising South Western Command and DIG, FCIID, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo mni in his address appreciated the initiatives of his boss, IGP Usman Alkali Baba and his intention to improve the well-being of the men of the Nigeria Police Force through a conducive working conditions. According to DIG Kokumo,”the intention of Inspector General of Police is to improve the welfare packages of the force towards ensuring diligence in duties and service delivery and enhance mutual trust and friendship between the Police and entire members of the public. ”Above all, he said the IGP was desirous to change the whole narratives about the general public negative impressions towards the Nigeria Police Force.

He finally congratulated the entire people of Ado Awaye for having this kind of modern Police station in the community which he described as rare opportunity.
