The Federation of Oyo Students’ Union National Council in conjunction with the five National Zonal Chapter in the State has written an open letter to His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde demanding that the governor fulfill his promises made to the student bodies before the expiration of his first term.
The letter reads:
To:
His Excellency,
Engr. Seyi Makinde,
Governor of Oyo State.
With profound gratitude, we commend the Executive Governor of our dear pacesetter state, Your Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for his swift actions and admirable leadership qualities in directing the affairs of this state and improving the general welfare of the populace, among other things.
After the resolution of the FOSSU National Executives and the zonal presidents held yesterday at exactly 9pm,which was attended by 13 Executive members and zonal presidents,Your Excellency, in as much as we commend your efforts, we will not hesitate to bring to your attention a reminder to the promises you made to the indegenous students; bursary payment, provision of students welfare and scholarship, which were set to be fulfilled before the elections but unfortunately hasn’t been fulfilled till date.
As we all know, it’s just eight days away from the gubernatorial election in our dear state. In the next 8 days, we’ll be deciding the fate of our state for the next 4 years. And who is going to be the next Governor lies in the hands of the good people of Oyo State, especially the youths and students whom political consciousness has been awakened and are also major determinants of electoral outcomes, as clearly evident from the just concluded elections.
We hereby beseech you to look into how to fulfill the promises before we approach the polls on March 11 or else the National Body which is responsible for over fifty thousand (50,000) students in Oyo would take decision in their hand.
We anticipate a positive response from your Excellency.
Signed;
FOSSU National Executives.
Zonal Presidents.
