The students of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology embarked on excursion to Ile-Ife on Saturday.

The students who were on excursion visited ancient Palace and some other historical places in Ile-Ife. OduduwaNews gathered that they were on excursion so that they would be exposed to ancient things they had been hearing about on Ile-Ife being the source of Yoruba race.

The leader of the students who identified himself as Senator Amoo Olamilekan while speaking to Oduduwa News correspondent at the Palace, said they were happy to be at the Palace to further sharpen their knowledge about Yoruba race but it pained them that they couldn’t meet Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi due to the failure to meet up with the time given to them. He said he appreciated the tourist guides who took them to Opa Oranmiyan, Ile-Orisa and other historical places

One of the student leaders, who identified herself as Adetunji Bolanle said, she has never been to Ile-Ife before and that it was a great opportunity to be part of the students that would come to Ife to see those ancient things physically.

A lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, Kwara State Polytechnic, Bolaji Adetoro who represented the Director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology to supervise and monitor the students at the excursion spoke to Oduduwa News at the event. He said he was happy to supervise the students at the excursion, while he also highlighted the significance of the excursion which bordered on exposing the students beyond the four walls of the classrooms.

He further stated that they were able to see Obalufon who was said to have spent 400 years on earth. He however expressed dissatisfaction on their inability to meet Kabiyesi which was due to circumstances beyond their control.
