The police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing into a road accident, with efforts focused on determining both the immediate and remote causes of the incident, as well as the level of the driver’s involvement.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the police said preliminary findings indicate that the accident occurred under circumstances that require detailed technical and human-factor analysis.
Officers and traffic investigators have since visited the scene, documented evidence, and taken statements from relevant witnesses.
According to the police, the vehicle involved in the crash has been recovered for further examination, while the driver is currently being questioned to establish compliance with traffic regulations at the time of the incident.
The police noted that issues such as speed, road condition, vehicle condition, and possible negligence are being carefully reviewed.
The authorities also disclosed that medical reports and autopsy results, where applicable, will form part of the investigation to help clarify the exact sequence of events leading to the accident.
The police assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be made known once concluded, stressing that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law. They further urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic rules to prevent avoidable accidents on Nigerian roads.
