I must first commend the unrelenting effort of Governor Seyi Makinde, towards investing and developing tourism in Oyo State.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has taken tourism development as one of its key areas of interest, with the sole aim of boosting the state economy and creating shared prosperity for all.
In keeping with the provisions of the roadmap to sustainable development he has shown through actions and deeds that he takes tourism development and prosperity of Oyo State too serious and will stop at nothing to make Oyo State a prosperous state.
With Governor Makinde administration starting to develop the huge potential in the tourism sector and thereby opening a new vista of financial buoyancy forq the state through the sector, there can be no doubt as to the better days ahead of the state.
The Iyamopo hill in Igbeti which occupies over six kilometers of land mass and is as high a hundred and fifty feet was rated as the biggest hill in Southwest State of Nigeria. Legendary tales recall that it was once used as shelter against attacks.
The Iyamopo hill harbor plethora of tourists attraction that could boost the economy of the people in no time and coupled with the interest, passion and unbiased commitment of the people is a good sign of fortune for the town and the state at large.
The Iyamopo tourism project will definitely create thousands of both direct and indirect jobs for indigenes and residents of the host community Igbeti and its neighbouring towns.
However, there is nothing as good in marketing than building a global brand. Saying I have a potential and I don’t let the world know about it, then I have a problem. The potential of tourism is enormous, and we all have a shared responsibility to make sure it is fully realized. We have to do anything necessary to support government to promote culture and tourism in Igbeti.
The government need to invest in building a good road network around the Iyamopo hill, improve security, provide amusing facilities and make the environment of the Iyamopo hill habitable and catchy for tourists.
This Iyamopo tourists attraction sites which if well harnessed could place Igbeti and Oyo State on global map among tourism destinations in the world.
It will also be of immense benefit to Oke Ogun, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole and even Africa as a continent.
