Oyo State Police Command Headquarters has confirmed the abduction of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Benedict Akika.
Benedict Akika, popularly known as Bene, a staunch supporter of Governor Makinde was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen who invaded his Olorunda-Aba residence in Lagelu local government area of Oyo state on Wednesday night.
It was gathered that the kidnappers who wore facial masks stormed his residence, seized all phones including that of his wife ,before he was abducted.
Unconfirmed report say one person was killed during the incident. Authorities said they are on top of the situation.
While reacting to the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso in a message forwarded to reporters in the state confirmed the incident.
Osifeso through the message stated that, “Investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates will be provided accordingly, please.”
